Quilt & Chains

Today’s look is one of the looks I personally liked the most out of the ones I put together for the Dancer in the City editorial. It is monochrome, simple, with a few subtle touches of high end and vintage.

Some of Us Are Looking at The Stars

At the moment I’m quite interested in anything ethnic-looking. This is partly because of the increasingly hot weather but also because items like that usually have history and a sense of unaffected strong character, along with a “close to nature” feel. It’s quite appealing, perhaps particularly so in modern times where summer might be the best time to grant yourself a proper break to relax and reflect. Obviously this isn’t the perfect outfit for cloud-studying in a Brazilian hammock on a hot summer’s day, it’s another one of the ballet-inspired looks but a little different from the rest and maybe more fit for a grey spring day unless you’d wear it with a tanktop instead of a cardigan.
 Messy Ballet

This necklace is pretty amazing; not only for making me want to wear green and red together, but also for the numerous rows and chunky details which suit my current “bigger is better” accessory philosophy. I love oversized necklaces, bracelets, rings – I wish more designers would consider including about three size options for no-mod jewelry, for those of us who like to “chunk it up”. I removed the backpiece from the P.C. headdress to make it work for a casual look.

Printemps-Preppy

I’ve got another ballet-inspired look for you, this time a bit more casual and preppy but still spring like and feminine. I’ll have to hurry to blog these before they are all too dressed (although that fortunately doesn’t matter much in SL, as Milla said when I mentioned it to her earlier)! I’m keeping it short and sweet.

Preppy Ballet

Originally the skirt shown here is part of a babydoll:ish dress, you’ll have to lower that part and possibly shrink it to make it fit under a short coat/jacket like this. I’d say a trenchcoat is a wardrobe staple and the Lady trench from BareRose is a bargain at 160L for 6 colours and two length-options, a version for men is available too. This white bag from Boudoir (mostly selling furniture and home decorations) should be released soon if it hasn’t been already, so in case you haven’t visited Roosa yet I think that gives you a reason to – the design is very sleek and the details are well made.

Edited Close-up

Hello Fashion Feed! :D My blog was added a while ago (thanks Tao!), but sadly I haven’t had much time to blog until now. Anyway, like mentioned in my previous post… some of the outfits I will be posting here will be outfits that were originally intended for GLAM World Magazine, this is one of them. In the May Issue there is an editorial with ballet inspired fashion, photographed by the multi-talented Caliah Lyon and modeled by my partner in crime, Sofia Gray. Sofia’s Sylvie Guillem-like stature and (in my opinion) ethnic ambiguity seemed perfect for this kind of shoot, where something classic and highly disciplined was put in a chaotic melting pot environment. See her rushing through the streets or making a bus stop her place for practice then forgetting about the rain as she crosses the street arabesque style – a modern day Degas girl in a metropolitan setting. Subscribe to the magazine in-world or pick up a copy, it’s a beautiful series of pictures.

Most things passionate and expressive tend to draw me in, ballet is definitely both those things while at the same time involving beautiful clothes so I simply can not not indulge. Besides, there are a lot of ballet-like looks on the RL runways for fall, but also for spring/summer which was inspiring for me. When putting the looks together I was starting with a somewhat traditional base and/or silhouette then added pieces and accessories for different occasions. The look I’m posting now would be…

OH HAI!

Having a place where I can document my fashion follies feels more appealing than ever. This blog is a work in progress, I’m not completely sure about what kind of “purpose” it will serve but I plan on keeping it unpretentious and most of all fun. The positive comments from my week of guest blogging at MichaMi were definitely encouraging and to “get to it” has been my intention for a while now, but after being offered and accepting a position as stylist for GLAM Magazine (more about that in an upcoming post) it all seemed like a really good time to get started. I will be putting together outfits for the editorials; some of these outfits might not always make it into the mag so I figured this would be a great place for those as well as my occasional ramblings, must-haves and style experiments. Also, I really value feedback and would love to hear your opinions and thoughts.

As for the blog name…

If I’ve ever discussed hair with you I’ve more than likely gotten excited and praised a bunstyle or two. Oui, I LOVE BUNS. Stylewise I do experiment quite a bit and like most types of clothing depending on how and with what they are worn, but since I’d like to call this a personal style blog I figured I should name it after the number one thing that could be called something of a “signature” in my case. A low, simple bun. It’s a timeless style that works well with almost anything, from haute couture to casual. Whether it’s low, high, loose, tight, centered, on the side… I’ll wear them all. With that said…
